La Piccioletta Barca is an arts journal publishing: short stories, poetry, prose, essays, interviews, and translations.
We guarantee to have reviewed all pieces within a month of their submission, and publish within six months of their acceptance. The magazine uses the Oxford Style Guide for all formatting.
All submissions are read blind, and no weight is placed on previous publications (or lack thereof). We believe that both emerging and established writers should have equal opportunities for displaying their craft. In this vein, we are also open to accepting reprints, and ask that you inform us of where the piece has appeared previously.
We are a proud member of CLMP (Community of Literary Magazines & Presses). Our membership is a testament to the strict standards we hold with regard to the rights of our contributors, and the quality of our publication. La Piccioletta Barca has been inducted in the British Library Web Archive's cultural section, and has been recognised as one of the top 4 digital publications by the National Poetry Library (UK) in April 2020.

Submission Guidelines:
We are looking for essays, short stories, experimental prose or flash fiction between 500-5000 words. There are no stylistic or thematic limitations. However, if the piece submitted is an excerpt from a novel or longer work of fiction, we ask that you ensure it stands sufficiently as an independent piece. If you have any doubts regarding the appropriateness of any potential submissions, feel free to get in touch first.
We are looking for visual arts pieces, including but not limited to photography, drawings, sketches, paintings, sculptures, photo essays. We also accept work authored by multiple writers and artists. There is no need to submit a piece more than once however, in the cover letter of the submission please include all relevant bios of those responsible for creating it.
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling monthly basis.
Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we regret that we are unable to provide individualised feedback to each submission.
